February 4, 2008
Deuteronomy 10:20
Verse 20:
You shall fear the LORD your God; you shall serve Him, and to Him you shall hold fast, and take oaths in His name.

Comment:

Here we have another repeat of Deuteronomy 6:13 from January 31, 2008. Once again Moses is trying hard to implant the truths that were given him by God into his people.

I just got through watching the Super Bowl this evening. Deuteronomy reminds me of the ads I just watched (I did watch the game this time as well!!). In advertising classes of old I learned the basics: say it once, say it again and say it the third time. You will never watch a commercial again without hearing the repeats!

Moses was an early advertiser. He was saying it, saying it again, and saying it a third time. Sometimes he even put the message to song as in Ex. 15:1 when they saw the Egyptians swallowed up by the Red Sea! Sometimes I think he had about the same results as some of our current advertisers. Only a percent “bought” his message!

Lord, don’t let me be a hearer only, but help me be a doer of Your word. Let me fear You, serve You, and hold fast to You for all my days. Amen.
